About Unda
Get a Quote
Unda is a UK flood risk and drainage consultancy. We were founded in 2014 by Edward Bouët and Jackie Stone, two experienced specialists who wanted to approach flood risk differently — led by the site and the evidence in front of them, not run off a template.
Since then we have completed more than 5,000 flood risk assessments across England and Wales, for clients ranging from private landowners to multinational corporations. The work spans flood risk assessments for planning, surface water drainage strategies and SuDS design, Sequential and Exception Test reports and hydraulic flood modelling, supporting planning applications, due diligence, insurance and business continuity.
We know the regulators and how their systems work in practice. We deal with the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Natural Resources Wales, insurers and local planning authorities day to day, on the sites where flooding is the reason an application stalls. The Environment Agency now assesses around 6.3 million properties in England as being at risk of flooding, and the policy around it keeps changing, so the value is in advice that stays current and specific to your site.
A Senior Flood Risk Consultant signs off every report, so the advice that reaches a planner, lender or insurer always has a named specialist behind it.

How we work
Every assessment is scaled to the risk that actually affects your site, so you are not paying for scope you do not need. We model in-house, design drainage in Causeway and MicroDrainage, and build the kind of robust, policy-compliant evidence that planners and the Environment Agency will accept. When you want to see the outcomes, browse our recent projects or read more about our flood risk consultants and how they work.
Most sites that look difficult are not impossible; they are usually just under-assessed.
- Scope matched to real risk. A desk study, a site walkover or full hydraulic modelling — we scope the smallest piece of work that credibly answers the question, and say so when a site does not need more.
- Signed off by a senior consultant. A Senior Flood Risk Consultant reviews and signs off every report before it is issued.
- Modelled and drained in-house. Flood modelling, GIS analysis and drainage design sit in one team, so the evidence holds together rather than being stitched from subcontractors.
- Local knowledge, everywhere. National coverage backed by detailed area guides, river guides and local-authority guides across England and Wales.
We would like to formally acknowledge the outstanding service provided by Antony and the team at Unda in developing the drainage strategy, detailed drainage design, and supporting technical reports for our energy infrastructure project. The site presented several significant challenges, including its location within a flood-risk area, complex drainage constraints, and the need to balance engineering requirements with environmental and…

Start a quoteCommon questions about Unda
Who owns and runs Unda?
Unda Consulting Limited was founded in 2014 by Edward Bouët and Jackie Stone, who still lead the practice. The company is registered in England (number 09360091) with its office in Crawley, West Sussex, and the work is delivered by a named team of flood risk and drainage consultants rather than an anonymous back office.
What qualifications does the Unda team hold?
Unda is a CIWEM Business Partner, and the team includes chartered members (C.WEM MCIWEM) and graduate members (GradCIWEM) of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. Every report is checked and signed off by a Senior Flood Risk Consultant before it reaches a planning authority, lender or insurer.
Where does Unda work?
Unda prepares flood risk and drainage work across the whole of England and Wales, from single homes to strategic and infrastructure sites. That national reach is backed by local detail through our area guides, river guides and local-authority guides, so each report reflects the catchment, watercourses and council standards that apply to your site.
Does a Senior Flood Risk Consultant really check every report?
Yes. No report leaves Unda without a Senior Flood Risk Consultant reviewing and signing it off. It is the principle behind the whole practice: named, accountable specialists who stand behind their advice, rather than templated output produced without review.
