  • August 2020 — a formal Section 19 investigation. Cambridgeshire County Council produced a statutory flood investigation report titled "Flood Investigation Report — Location: St Neots — Flood Event: August 2020." Together with the December 2020 event and a further event in January 2021, this cluster of three flood events, during which a number of properties flooded more than once, led directly to the formation of St Neots FLAG (Flood Liaison Action Group), formally constituted on 8 December 2021.
  • 28 September 2024, 3:45am — Eaton Socon's record. The Great Ouse at the Eaton Socon gauge (station 6173), eight hundred metres from the St Neots gauge, reached 0.93m, its highest level on record at that station. Normal range at Eaton Socon is only 0.04m–0.10m, so the September 2024 rise was dramatic relative to how this gauge usually behaves, even though the absolute level is far lower than St Neots' figure — the two gauges simply respond very differently to the same river. No confirmed Section 19 investigation report has been found for this specific event; Cambridgeshire County Council's flood investigations page is the place to check for the latest position.
  • March 1947 — the worst flood in living memory. Local reporting in The Hunts Post describes around 700 homes in St Neots and Eynesbury affected, with water reportedly reaching more than three feet in St Neots High Street. This is strong secondary, local-news sourcing rather than primary Environment Agency gauge data, and should be read accordingly.

Easter 1998 is also occasionally referenced as a further historical flood in this corridor, though the sourcing is weaker and no reliable specific figures exist for that event, so we would not build a site case on it.

St Neots' worst flood on record was Christmas 2020. Eaton Socon's worst flood on record was September 2024.
